| We are the first and only caving club located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Our members are not only from Fredericksburg, but also from many other parts of Virginia, the U.S., and Canada. We are devoted to the promotion of cave conversation, safety, and education. | |
What is the BATS? |
|
| BATS, the Battlefield Area Troglodyte Society, is a National Speleological Society (NSS)-affiliated caving club. We are a non-profit educational organization whose members share a common interest in caves and caving. Our primary goals are to provide a means for local cavers to meet and go caving and to educate people in the sport of caving in a positive, conservation-minded manner. We welcome the opportunity to provide information on caves and caving to educational groups, and will try to accommodate requests to go caving with us. | |
When and where does the BATS meet? |
|
| Starting in October of 2007due to Library renovationswe will need to find alternate locations for our monthly business meeting. Check here for meeting announcements.
New semi-perminent meeting location and time... on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (except in August when it will be the 1st Wednesday so that we can all go to NSS Convention) at the Log Cabin model home in Central Park, Fredericksburg. It's behind the Sports Authority a few lights after you turn into Central Park. Same BAT time, 79 PM.

Who can join the BATS? |
|
| BATS membership is open to anyone interested in caving. New cavers and veteran cavers are welcome. Membership in the National Speleological Society is not required. We strongly encourage NSS membership, however, by allowing only NSS members voting privileges on club matters. | |
